New House Nominated For LABC Northwest Building Excellence Awards
Trafford Council Building Control has nominated one of FPA's recently completed projects for the Local Authority Building Control Northwest Building Excellence Awards 2011. The LABC Awards set out to recognise excellence through building standards, technical innovation and sustainable designs.
The project, a new house designed for developer
Bowdon Homes, offers a combination of Classical styling and
contemporary accommodation.
Tall sash windows and high ceilings complement a design that
draws on the topography of the site to inform the layout of the
accommodation.
The site slopes from front to back, allowing
the rear of the house
to
expand into a spacious, multi level living area.
A gallery at
ground floor
offers viewing
down
into a double height orangery and beyond into the rear garden.
Twin staircases lead down to the two and a half storey
kitchen
that opens up
onto
the rear garden. The following
level down from the kitchen
provides
family room
accommodation. This
space,
positioned beneath the gallery,
offers additional access to the garden as well as opening out into
the double height Orangery.
FPA's imaginative design has been carried out with exacting attention to detail to create the exciting spaces and interplay of volumes that set this house apart
